Juice Cleanse

Did you know that it's what you don't eat, rather than what you do, that has the biggest impact on your health over time.

This is the guiding principle behind Juice Cleanses. They offer the chance for your body to lighten it's load from th
e job of digestion and elimination.

You don't have to starve yourself on one of these cleanses because the nutritionally designed juices contain enough energy with a whole bunch of nutrients to allow you to function normally but without the body having to work as hard for it.

If your food habits have become all about quick and easy highly processed meals, then a Cleanse can be a great circuit breaker. After completing even just a day of green juices you will find yourself naturally looking at food differently and more often than not choosing a healthier option, which is a great bonus if you are looking for a weight loss plan.

Expect to feel more focused, clear and motivated once you finish. Here, we find our skin looks brighter, our sleep cycles improve and there is a feeling of lightness and optimism when we follow our own program which consists of 6 juices each day.

We are very busy working on launching our own Juice Cleanses soon, so please stay tuned for details. We will be offering home delivered 1,3 and 5 day programs.

Here is a sneek peek of what we are working on

Greens = Iron

There is more protein and iron in a vege diet than we have been led to believe. If not, how do some of the strongest animals in the world like gorillas get their muscle?

Eat and drink your greens knowing you are getting your daily hit of body building amino acids that create muscle, minerals like iron that build blood and calcium that builds bone.

Body Language

We've been putting into practice Amy Cuddy's simple but powerful body language technique of changing our body posture to influence how we think about ourselves and improve our performance.

Over the last month I've been incorporating push-u
ps into my daily exercise routine. Although I hadbeen doing them diligently I had noticed I had plateaued. So I thought I would try out this experiment.

I decided I would assume a position of pride, where I stand in a posture of hands in the air or at least adopting a pumped up stance. and then I would really allow myself to feel it, for 2 mins.

Unbelievably I was able to do at least 3 more push-ups than my best had been. Is it mind over matter, maybe, or is it a re-wiring in your brain?

It doesn't really matter why, but it's interesting to see see an improvement by just adopting a new stance for a very short time.

I suggest you watch the TED talk by Amy Cuddy to get the full picture and see how our bodies CAN really change our minds.

Where could you experiment with this body language upgrade in your life?

Milk Your Almonds!

Milk your Almonds?

Almond milk is one of my favourite smoothie bases, not just because it tastes creamy and delicious but for its outstanding health benefits. Of all the dairy substitutes
out there, almond milk definitely leads the pack. I
t can lower blood sugar levels, has no cholesterol and is rich in nutrients like protein, fibre, vitamin E, magnesium, selenium, manganese, zinc, potassium, fiber, iron, phosphorus, trytophan, copper, selenium and calcium.

Until recently I used to buy my almond milk and it's not a cheap habit in this household. I really thought it would be much trickier to make so I have put it off.

I am so glad I tried it out because it is beyond easy. You need:

1 cup almonds
2-3 cups water
and soak them overnight in a covered jar or bowl

Next day
blend it all up
and then strain with using muslin or a fine mesh strainer
squeezing as much of the liquid out as possible.

You can add vanilla extract, cinnamon or whatever you like
and you can decide here if you want to add more water if you like it runnier - it's really a personal preference.

No throwaway packaging makes it environmentally friendly and you can use the leftover almond meal in cooking. Today I made choc-chip coconutty type anzac biscuits. yummmm.
